Odisha CM Felicitates Indian Men's Hockey Team for Historic Olympic Bronze

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday honored the Indian men's hockey team at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar for their bronze medal win at the Paris Olympics. This historic feat saw India securing back-to-back bronze medals at the Olympics for the first time since 1972.
Under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Singh, the Indian team achieved a 2-1 victory over Spain, leading to their commendable finish. Singh expressed heartfelt gratitude for the continuous love and support from the people and government of Odisha. He acknowledged the excellent facilities and the significant backing from the state.
Reflecting on the celebration, Odia player Amit Rohidas received a cash reward of Rs 4 crore from the Odisha government. Each player will receive Rs 15 lakh, while support staff members are set to get Rs 10 lakh. In an emotionally charged game, veteran player Sreejesh marked his final appearance with a memorable win. Harmanpreet Singh led the scoring charts with ten goals in the tournament, placing India in the 71st position on the Olympics medals table.
