Dramatic Coin Toss Decides Quarterfinalists in Subroto Cup Sub Junior Boys Tournament
Army Boys Sports Company, Bengaluru, advanced to the quarterfinals of the 63rd Subroto Cup Sub Junior Boys International Football Tournament in a dramatic fashion through a coin toss after tying with NNMHSS Chelembra, Kerala, in points and goal difference. Other teams like St. Stephen’s School, Manikpara Vivekananda Vidyapeeth, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan, and Major Dhyanchand Sports College also secured their quarterfinal spots.
In a dramatic twist, Army Boys Sports Company, Bengaluru, secured a quarterfinal berth in the 63rd Subroto Cup Sub Junior Boys International Football Tournament after a coin toss decided their fate on Wednesday. Both ends of the contest, Army Boys and NNMHSS Chelembra, Kerala, couldn't be separated either on points or goal difference, finishing their group stages evenly poised with seven points and a plus six-goal difference each.
Despite winning their last group match 3-1 against 01 Goa Battalion, NCC, Army Boys had to await the outcome of the Kerala school's match against Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun. NNMHSS needed a three-goal win and were heading towards it until Maharana Pratap's last-second goal dashed their hopes, leading to the fateful coin toss favoring Army Boys.
Other quarterfinalists include St. Stephen's School, Chandigarh, Manikpara Vivekananda Vidyapeeth, Jhargram, West Bengal, Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan, and Major Dhyanchand Sports College, Uttar Pradesh. The intense competition and surprising outcomes highlight the thrilling nature of this prestigious tournament.
