In a controversial turn, Denis Shapovalov has highlighted what he perceives as double standards within the tennis world after Jannik Sinner was cleared of any doping wrongdoing despite failing two drug tests this year.

The Independent Tribunal of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) ruled that Sinner's explanation, that the banned substance entered his system through his physiotherapist's spray, was credible. Accordingly, they allowed him to continue competing, which has sparked outcry from other players.

Former doubles British number one Tara Moore expressed her frustration on social media, drawing attention to the disparity in how anti-doping regulations are enforced. The Professional Tennis Players Association (PTPA) has also called for a consistent system for all players to ensure fairness in the governance of the sport.
