The ICC on Tuesday relocated the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup from Bangladesh to the UAE, citing security concerns following advisories from several participating countries against traveling to the unrest-hit nation.
Scheduled from October 3 to 20, the tournament will be held in Dubai and Sharjah, with Bangladesh retaining its hosting rights and corresponding revenue share. ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed disappointment but thanked the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in as hosts.
This move comes after civil unrest led to the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government, resulting in over 230 fatalities. All available options were explored before deciding on the UAE as the alternative venue.
