Top-ranked tennis player Jannik Sinner tested positive twice for a banned anabolic steroid in March and was subsequently stripped of prize money and points earned at a tournament in Indian Wells, California. However, he will not face suspension as an independent tribunal ruled the violation was unintentional.

The International Tennis Integrity Agency announced the case on Tuesday. Despite the doping controversy, Sinner triumphed at the Cincinnati Open on Monday and is expected to be one of the frontrunners at the US Open, which kicks off in New York next week.
