Brighton secured a significant transfer milestone late Monday by signing France Under-21 forward Georginio Rutter from second-tier Leeds.
The Premier League club announced Rutter's acquisition on a five-year contract, with the record-setting deal reportedly valued at 40 million pounds ($52 million).
Rutter, 22, transitioned to English football in January 2023, moving from Hoffenheim to Leeds in a deal worth up to 35 million pounds ($45.5 million). Last season, he netted eight goals as Leeds fell short of promotion, losing the Championship playoff final to Southampton.
