The Paralympics Committee of India (PCI) has chosen Svayam as the new accessibility partner for the upcoming Paris Paralympics 2024, scheduled from 28th August to 8th September 2024. The event will see over 4,000 athletes from around the world competing in 22 sports, promising a diverse and thrilling competition.

Svayam, known for its commitment to accessibility, aims to make transportation accessible for the entire Indian Para Contingent. This partnership, which has been ongoing for the past 4-5 years, will focus on providing accessible transportation and conducting comprehensive access audits of hotels and buildings in New Delhi where athletes will stay. Svayam will also donate a fully modified accessible vehicle to the PCI to enhance mobility and support para-players.

Sminu Jindal, Founder-Chairperson of Svayam, expressed her honor and responsibility in this partnership. She stated, 'Our partnership continues to break down barriers and promote dignity and independence for people with reduced mobility. We are dedicated to creating an equitable environment where every player can focus on their performance without worrying about accessibility.' In a separate development, Indian para shuttler Pramod Bhagat will miss the Paris Paralympics after being suspended for 18 months for breaching anti-doping regulations.

Pramod Bhagat had an impressive run in the Para World Championships 2024, securing one gold and two bronze medals. The Indian contingent altogether bagged 18 medals, including three gold, four silver, and 11 bronze medals. (ANI)
