All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the ongoing three-match ODI series between India and Sri Lanka due to a hamstring injury. The first ODI ended in a thrilling tie, setting the stage for an intense second ODI at R Premadasa Stadium on Sunday.

Hasaranga's exit from the series is a significant blow to the Sri Lankan bowling lineup, which has already been weakened by the absence of Matheesha Pathirana, Dilshan Madushanka, Dushmantha Chameera, and Nuwan Thushara. Jeffrey Vandersay has been named the replacement for Hasaranga. "Wanindu Hasaranga will miss the remainder of the ODI series due to a left hamstring injury," confirmed a release from Sri Lanka Cricket.

The 30-year-old Jeffrey Vandersay last played for Sri Lanka in an ODI against Zimbabwe in January this year. The decider third ODI will be held at the same venue on August 7, adding further importance to the upcoming match as both teams aim to secure the series.
