As the Men in Blue gear up for their first ODI against Sri Lanka on Friday, all eyes are on star India batter Virat Kohli. Kohli, known for his exceptional record against Sri Lanka, thrives in Colombo, where the entire three-match series will be held. India enters the series on the back of a 3-0 clean sweep in the T20I series.

In 53 ODIs against Sri Lanka, Kohli has amassed 2,594 runs at an average of 63.26, with 10 centuries and 12 fifties. Across 72 international matches against Sri Lanka, he has scored 4,018 runs at an average of 64.80, including 15 centuries and 18 fifties. His highest score in these contests is 243.

Kohli's record at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo is stellar. He has scored 644 runs in 11 matches at an average of 107.33, with four centuries and one fifty. Fans hope to see more runs from his bat in the three ODIs, as he stands just 152 runs shy of 14,000 ODI runs. Kohli could become only the third player to reach this milestone after Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara.

Moreover, Kohli is nearing the 27,000 international runs mark, needing only 116 more runs. This accomplishment would make him the fourth player to reach this milestone, joining Tendulkar, Sangakkara, and Ricky Ponting. India's tour of Sri Lanka began on July 27 with the T20I series, where India secured a 3-0 win. The three ODIs are scheduled for August 2, 4, and 7 at the R Premadasa Stadium.

India's ODI squad includes: Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill (VC), Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (WK), Rishabh Pant (WK), Shreyas Iyer, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, Riyan Parag, Axar Patel, Khaleel Ahmed, and Harshit Rana. (ANI)
