The Indian men's football team is gearing up to participate in the Intercontinental Cup 2024, scheduled during the FIFA window in September. The tournament, set to take place in Hyderabad from September 2 to 10, will see a tri-nation format featuring India, Syria, and Mauritius.

This year's edition marks the debut of Mauritius, while Syria makes its second appearance. Notably, this will be India's first major tournament without legendary player Sunil Chhetri, who retired from international football at the end of India's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign. India, currently ranked 124th by FIFA, stands as the second-best-ranked team in the tournament.

Manolo Marquez will debut as head coach of the Indian team in this tournament, following his appointment after Igor Stimac's departure. Marquez, who has a successful track record in the Indian Super League, is expected to lead the team to new heights. The AIFF organized this tournament with a view to providing more competitive opportunities for the national team.
