Everton have finalized a loan agreement for Jesper Lindstrom from Napoli, with the Danish midfielder set to join Goodison Park for the 2024/25 season. The deal also encompasses an option for a permanent transfer next summer. Lindstrom, capable of playing in various attacking roles, becomes Everton's fourth acquisition this summer, joining Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye, and Jack Harrison.
On Friday, Lindstrom expressed his delight in joining the club. 'I feel very good. It's amazing to represent Everton. This is a big club, with big history, a good stadium and, as I've seen, very good facilities as well. I'm very, very happy to be here and I feel like this is a good fit,' he said.
Lindstrom also revealed that Everton's interest in him has been longstanding, and he feels the transition to England will be smooth given its similarities to Denmark. 'England is very similar to Denmark, so I will feel at home quickly. The people have been very nice and very humble. I'm really looking forward to getting started,' he stated.
Discussing his discussions with Everton's manager, Lindstrom emphasized the mutual trust and his readiness to contribute to the team. 'I've spoken to the manager. It sounds as though he likes the way I play football and I can be a good fit for the team with my speed. I know he trusts me, and that's another reason I'm here--because I need that trust from the coach and my teammates,' he explained.
The versatile midfielder, eager to excel, highlighted his challenging past year and his determination to make a positive impact. 'I am 100 percent ready. I'm so hungry. This pre-season feels long because I just want to play football. Last year was tough, but I'm thrilled to be here now and can't wait to get started,' he shared.
Lindstrom described himself as a fast, technical player capable of filling multiple roles, such as a number 10 or winger. Confident in his ability to enhance Everton's counter-attacks, Lindstrom is set to provide goals, assists, and create chances. 'I'm a fast player with a good technique and a good shot. I think I can add speed on the counter-attacks. I will give my best, score goals, provide assists, and create chances,' he stated.
Born in Taastrup, Denmark, the 24-year-old began his career with Brondby and later excelled at Eintracht Frankfurt, contributing significantly in both the Bundesliga and Europe. Napoli signed him in August 2023, after which he joined Everton on loan.
Everton manager Sean Dyche praised Lindstrom's versatility, highlighting his ability to play various attacking positions as a key asset for the team in the new season. 'Jesper is a player with very good ability who can operate in a number of different attacking roles, which will benefit us heading into the new season,' Dyche said.
Everton's Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, also expressed his satisfaction with Lindstrom's acquisition, noting his exciting attributes and eagerness to succeed. 'We're delighted to have completed the loan signing of Jesper to further bolster our options at the top end of the pitch,' he said.
