Young spinner Shoaib Bashir earned high praise from former England cricketer Mark Butcher after his match-winning five-wicket haul clinched the second Test against West Indies. Butcher labeled the rising star as 'the real deal' for his effective spell that wiped out the West Indies' hopes of a comeback, with the visitors crumbling to 143 runs in pursuit of a 385-run target.

In the Wisden Cricket Weekly podcast, Butcher lauded Bashir's control and variety, noting his ability to manage different pitch conditions. 'He showed exceptional control and variety, even on flat pitches. He was tough to play, thanks to his height, pace, and bounce,' Butcher said.

Butcher also praised England captain Ben Stokes for his supportive leadership, setting impressive fields to bolster Bashir's effectiveness. 'Stokes is sympathetic and understands how to strategically set fields, making sure good balls aren't easily knocked for runs,' he added.

In their second innings, England countered West Indies' lead with stellar batting, posting 425 runs and setting 385 for victory. With Bashir's five-wicket heroics, England dismissed West Indies for 143 and sealed a 2-0 series win. They have the opportunity to sweep the series in the final Test at Birmingham starting Friday.
