Inter Miami star Lionel Messi will not feature in the MLS All-Star Game as he nurses an ankle injury.

The 37-year-old Messi sustained the injury during the July 14 Copa America final against Colombia. Additionally, his teammate Luis Suárez will miss the game in Columbus, Ohio, due to knee discomfort.

Messi, an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, has already missed recent Miami victories over Toronto FC and the Chicago Fire. Miami announced that the players' availability for Saturday's Leagues Cup opener against Puebla will depend on their recovery.

Notably, Miami teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba will take part in Wednesday's match.

Furthermore, Real Salt Lake forward Cristian Arango, currently serving a four-game suspension for violating the league's anti-harassment policy, will also be absent from the All-Star Game.
