In a surprising revelation, West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara has described Carl Hooper as more talented than both himself and Indian icon Sachin Tendulkar. This noteworthy assertion is made in Lara's latest book, 'Lara: The England Chronicles.'

Lara, celebrated as the 'Prince of Trinidad,' detailed Hooper's impressive cricketing prowess, particularly highlighting his performance as a captain. According to Lara, Hooper reached his full potential as a leader, averaging nearly 50 with the bat during his tenure. Despite not attaining widespread recognition, Hooper's talent was evident to those who played alongside him.

Hooper's cricket career statistics include 102 Tests with 5,762 runs at an average of 36.46, and 227 ODIs amassing 5,761 runs at an average of 35.34. His all-round capabilities also saw him taking 114 Test wickets and 193 in ODIs.

Lara reminisced about Hooper's memorable 111-run innings against England at Lord's in 1991, describing it as a display of pure class that left a lasting impression on teammates, including legends like Viv Richards and Desmond Haynes. Lara noted that Hooper's immense talent sometimes went unrecognized even by Hooper himself, adding to the enigma of his cricket journey.

Delving deeper into team dynamics, Lara shared insights on the intimidating presence of Viv Richards, whose forceful personality had a profound impact on his teammates. Lara contrasted his own ability to cope with Richards' style with Hooper's more sensitive reaction, attributing this to the nuances in their relationships with Richards.

Brian Lara's own illustrious career boasts 425 matches and 22,260 runs at an average of 46.66, cementing his status as one of cricket's greatest luminaries.
