Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will clash with Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon 2024 men's singles final on Sunday. The eagerly anticipated match is set to take place at Centre Court of the All England Club, starting at 6:30 PM IST.

This marks Alcaraz's second appearance in a Wimbledon final, whereas Djokovic is a seasoned seven-time champion at Centre Court. Djokovic aims to tie Roger Federer's all-time record of eight Wimbledon men's singles titles. In the semi-final, Alcaraz overcame fourth-seeded Daniil Medvedev after losing the first set, eventually winning 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4.

Meanwhile, second-seeded Djokovic breezed past Italy's Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets 6-4, 7-6, 6-4 to secure his place in the final. Last year's Wimbledon final between Alcaraz and Djokovic, which lasted four hours and 42 minutes, was the third-longest in history. Alcaraz claimed his second Grand Slam title by defeating Djokovic, who was aiming for a fifth consecutive Wimbledon win.

Alcaraz, currently ranked third in the ATP standings, won the French Open last month by beating Alexander Zverev. Djokovic, ranked second, captured three major titles last year and reached the Australian Open semi-finals earlier this year but withdrew from the Roland Garros quarter-final due to a knee injury.

With 24 Grand Slam titles, Djokovic is tied with Margaret Court. A win on Sunday would bring his tally to 25, setting a new record for the most Major titles in tennis history. Alcaraz and Djokovic have met five times, with Djokovic holding a 3-2 edge. They faced off twice in Grand Slams last year, with each winning one encounter. Sunday's final will be their first meeting in 2024.
