More than 20 years after the cricket match-fixing scandal marred the sport, a court has pressed charges of cheating and criminal conspiracy against four individuals. Among those accused are Sanjeev Chawla, a London-based bookie considered the 'main conspirator,' and actor Krishan Kumar, brother of T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar.

The Patiala House district court's 68-page order sets the stage for a trial, highlighting the roles of Chawla, Kumar, Delhi-based bookie Rajesh Kalra, and Sunil Dara, also known as Bittoo.

Delhi Police initially filed the charge sheet in 2013 concerning the 2000 match-fixing scandal involving the late South African captain Hansie Cronje, who perished in a plane crash in 2002. Chawla was extradited to India in February 2020.
