NBA Africa and Cairo-based New Era Education have announced a multiyear collaboration to launch the first NBA Basketball School in Africa at Uppingham School Cairo, New Giza, Egypt. This school will open in January 2025 for students aged 5-18, offering a year-round, tuition-based program covering on-court training, skill development, and basketball education for all levels.

Head of NBA Egypt, Mohamed Abdel-motaleb Soliman, highlighted the significance of this milestone in promoting basketball in Egypt and Africa, providing students with development opportunities under NBA-selected coaches.

Dr. Tamer Tammam, Board Chairman of New Era Education, emphasized the program's role in fostering leadership skills and personal growth among students, aligning with the company’s commitment to youth development.

The curriculum, designed by the NBA’s International Basketball Operations department, aims to develop players and educate parents, coaches, and organizations on the improvement process. Since 2017, NBA Basketball Schools have been established in various countries worldwide, enhancing the league's global footprint.

The initiative builds on the NBA's previous efforts in Cairo, including the Basketball Africa League Nile Conference, Jr. NBA clinics, and the establishment of the NBA Egypt office in 2023.
