Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced a significant Rs 150 crore allocation on Tuesday aimed at remodelling the national capital's drainage systems, addressing the persistent waterlogging issues that have increasingly defined the city's identity.
Gupta, who also manages the finance portfolio, emphasized that the capital's inadequate drainage has led to annual flood-like conditions, blaming previous governments for their mismanagement. She stated that the Rs 603 crore slated for the Irrigation and Flood Control Department includes provisions for drainage upgrades.
The Budget, forming part of a Rs 1 lakh crore fiscal plan, marks the BJP's return to budgetary duties in Delhi after 26 years, following electoral victory over the Aam Aadmi Party. It encompasses ten priority areas, targeting infrastructure, water management, and the economic empowerment of women, paving a path for the city's future self-reliance.
