In a tragic incident, Rashid Khan, a 37-year-old biker, lost his life in south Delhi's Tigri area after colliding with a road divider and crashing into a pothole. The accident reportedly occurred while he was trying to avoid waterlogged potholes, according to police investigations.
Authorities found Khan lying unconscious on MB Road, suffering from a severe gash on his forehead. He was transported to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he was declared dead. His helmet, discovered at the scene, was found to have not been worn, raising concerns about road safety measures.
The maintenance of the problematic road is under dispute between Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Public Works Department (PWD), complicating accountability. Both organizations have denied jurisdiction over the road's upkeep, despite previous requests for repairs, highlighting a critical infrastructure issue.
