Addressing the ET Global Business Summit, Stiell praised India's significant solar installations and pointed to the country's pivotal role in climate change mitigation.
Stiell highlighted the economic benefits of embracing a broader clean energy strategy, noting that India's economic future could greatly benefit from renewable energy advancements. He stressed that India has a unique position to lead in deploying renewable energy capacity and exporting crucial green technologies.
However, Stiell warned of economic risks stemming from climate disruptions if robust climate actions, especially by G20 nations, aren't realized. He emphasized the urgent need for international financial backing, criticizing developed nations for inadequately supporting the Global South in their climate endeavors.
