The government of Tamil Nadu has announced a further allocation of Rs 400 crore to accelerate construction in the state's flagship housing initiative, 'Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam.'

This latest infusion brings the total fund disbursement to Rs 1,451 crore, with funds directly credited to beneficiaries' accounts.

The scheme, which offers houses with a 360 sq ft built-up area, aims to replace huts with concrete homes by 2030, with one lakh new houses underway for 2024-25.
