Boost to 'Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam': Rs 400 Crore Infusion for Housing Construction

The Tamil Nadu government has allocated an additional Rs 400 crore to expedite the 'Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam' housing scheme. This brings the total funds to Rs 1,451 crore. The scheme aims to build concrete houses, providing materials like cement and steel at subsidized rates, with Rs 860.31 crore already disbursed.

The government of Tamil Nadu has announced a further allocation of Rs 400 crore to accelerate construction in the state's flagship housing initiative, 'Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam.'

This latest infusion brings the total fund disbursement to Rs 1,451 crore, with funds directly credited to beneficiaries' accounts.

The scheme, which offers houses with a 360 sq ft built-up area, aims to replace huts with concrete homes by 2030, with one lakh new houses underway for 2024-25.
