The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has applauded Punjab's efforts in significantly reducing stubble burning cases by 71% compared to the previous year. However, the commission stressed the need for enhanced enforcement to completely eradicate farm fires in the region.

During a review meeting chaired by CAQM's Rajesh Verma, various stakeholders, including deputies and district police, discussed enforcement strategies. Verma underscored the importance of achieving zero incident rates, urging authorities to intensify their efforts and exercise no laxity in enforcement actions.

In a bid to curb stubble burning, Punjab has been advocating for paddy straw management techniques among farmers, along with offering subsidies. Additionally, the state plans to incorporate paddy straw-based pallets in thermal power plants. Officials are committed to strict monitoring and proactive measures, particularly with the burning season climaxing by November 30.
