Late Tuesday night, a fire broke out on the second floor of a six-storey commercial building near Vijay Nagar intersection in Indore. This prompted a swift response, with civic officials evacuating 42 people from the structure, housing various shops and offices.
Fire department assistant sub-inspector Sushil Kumar Dubey elaborated on the scene, describing it as chaotic and filled with smoke. Despite the challenging conditions, the fire teams managed to safely evacuate all individuals. Only minor injuries, involving smoke inhalation and a thumb injury, were reported.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, though initial suspicions point toward diyas used during the 'Devuthani Ekadashi' or a potential short circuit. Indore district collector Ashish Singh and top police officials coordinated the rescue operation, ensuring that the fire was contained swiftly.
