Russian airstrikes in southern Ukraine resulted in at least six fatalities and 21 injuries, including five children, according to regional governors' reports on Monday. The Mykolaiv region accounted for five deaths, while Zaporizhzhia saw one fatality with a residential building destroyed.
The Ukrainian air force responded by shooting down two missiles and 39 out of 74 drones launched overnight by Russia. Reports could not be independently verified, and no comment was available from Russia at the time.
Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians. Air raid alerts were prevalent throughout eastern Ukraine, reflecting the ongoing tension since the Russian invasion began in February 2022.
