Delhi's Air Quality Deteriorates: Alarming Metrics in the Capital

Air quality in Delhi continued to be a major concern, as it remained in the 'very poor' category on Sunday evening. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) registered a 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) of 335 at 4 pm. Earlier in the day, the AQI was recorded at 334 at 9 am, pointing towards persistent environmental challenges.
Critical areas, including Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, and Alipur, reported notably poor air quality. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a forecast indicating the presence of evening mist in the national capital. The maximum temperature peaked at 32.6 degrees Celsius, which is slightly higher than usual, coupled with a humidity level of 74 percent at 5.30 pm. Residents are being cautioned as moderate fog is expected to blanket Delhi on Monday.
AQI levels are categorized as follows: 0-50 is 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor', and 401-500 'severe'. With the comparatively high AQI levels, citizens are advised to take preventive measures.
