The Swiss village of Brienz, previously evacuated due to a rockslide threat, faces similar circumstances once again. Local officials have issued a precautionary evacuation order for the village located within the municipality of Albula in eastern Switzerland.
Authorities announced the decision on the social media platform X, alerting residents in both German and Romansch. A resident briefing is scheduled for 7 p.m. local time, outlining evacuation procedures and safety measures.
The village's 84 residents were first ordered to evacuate on May 12, 2023, as falling rocks threatened their safety. Though a rockslide narrowly missed the area a month later, only a few farmers were allowed to return temporarily to tend to fields.
