On the eve of Diwali, air pollution in the national capital Delhi showed a significant increase. As of Wednesday, eight monitoring stations recorded air quality at 'very poor' levels, highlighting a growing concern over the city's air quality.
Delhi's overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 278 at 9 am, an increase from the previous day's 268. This slight improvement from even poorer conditions earlier in the week can be attributed to favorable wind speeds.
The city experienced unusually high temperatures, with a minimum of 21 degrees Celsius, which is notably higher than the seasonal norm, and a humidity level of 83%. Authorities continue to observe these conditions as Diwali celebrations approach, an event known to typically worsen the air quality.
