Typhoon Kong-rey Set to Strike Taiwan with Ferocity
Taiwan braces for Typhoon Kong-rey, expected to make landfall as a category 4 storm on Thursday. Warnings are in place as strong winds and rain threaten the east and north, with potential to disrupt life across Taiwan before heading towards China.
Taiwan is on high alert as Typhoon Kong-rey approaches, poised to strike the island on Thursday with significant force. Authorities issued a land warning on Wednesday in preparation for what is expected to be a category 4 storm.
Kong-rey is anticipated to hit Taiwan's eastern Taitung County by late Thursday morning, as forecasted by the Central Weather Administration. Following its initial impact, it will likely move south across Taiwan, then navigate into the Taiwan Strait on its path towards China.
According to meteorologists, the heaviest rainfall is projected for Taiwan's east coast and northern regions, including the capital Taipei. Taiwan, positioned in a subtropical region, is no stranger to typhoons. Just earlier this month, Typhoon Krathon claimed four lives as it traversed the south of the island.
