Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy unveiled ambitious plans on Tuesday to transform Bapu Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi, into a key feature of the Musi river redevelopment project.
During an informal meeting with the press, Reddy outlined the government's vision, which includes establishing a Gandhi ideology center at Bapu Ghat situated on the banks of the Musi river. This is part of a broader effort to rejuvenate the heavily-polluted Musi river to enhance Hyderabad's growth.
Addressing criticism from opposition parties BRS and BJP, the Chief Minister questioned their objections to the redevelopment, highlighting the government's aim to improve living conditions for those residing by the polluted river. Reddy also mentioned plans to bring Godavari river water to local reservoirs and indicated upcoming tenders for water lifting in November.
