Parts of Jharkhand are bracing for heavy to very heavy rainfall starting Thursday night as cyclonic storm 'Dana' approaches, according to the Met Department.
An 'orange' alert has been declared for the Kolhan region, including West Singhbhum, Seraikela-Kharswan, and East Singhbhum districts, signifying rainfall levels ranging from 115 mm to 204 mm within a 24-hour timeframe. Ranchi Meteorological Centre's Abhishek Anand also warned of thunderstorms and gusty winds reaching speeds up to 60 kmph.
This weather system is predicted to make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra Port in Odisha early Friday, with winds likely reaching 120 kmph. The storm's progression is already affecting several central Jharkhand areas, with likely repercussions on forthcoming political activities linked to state assembly elections.
