An ambitious green initiative is underway in Chhattisgarh's Durg district, where a new compressed biogas plant will be constructed with a Rs 60 crore investment, according to a government official.
The effort, formalized by a tripartite concession agreement between the Bhilai Municipal Corporation, the Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, aims to transform urban solid waste into sustainable biofuel.
The plant is poised to convert 150 metric tonnes of daily solid waste into biofuel, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions, fostering organic farming, and creating 30,000 man-days of employment annually, contributing to the state's path towards net zero emission.
