The BJP on Saturday refuted claims that the Adani group was given special benefits in the redevelopment of Dharavi, Mumbai's major slum area. Mumbai BJP leader Ashish Shelar accused the Shiv Sena (UBT) of spreading these rumors to gain control over the project's financial spoils.
Shelar alleged that the opposition stems from the Shiv Sena's interest in capturing a valuable 37-acre plot in Dharavi and accused them of being heavily influenced by urban Naxals. He emphasized the BJP's focus on providing housing for Dharavi's impoverished residents and warned against attempts to mislead the local population.
Highlighting the Dharavi redevelopment's potential to generate significant municipal revenue, Shelar underlined plans for open spaces, transportation hubs, and housing projects. He dismissed rumors of Adani receiving extra Floor Space Index as baseless while urging Mumbai citizens to remain vigilant against misinformation.
