Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has restarted the ambitious Amaravati Capital Region project after a five-year hiatus. This action marks a significant turn as the works initially began under Naidu's leadership were abandoned by the previous YSRCP government.
During a press conference, Naidu revealed that project costs have surged by Rs 7,000 crore, reaching Rs 52,000 crore. The escalation is attributed to stalled progress and alleged negligence by the previous administration. Naidu expressed gratitude toward financial institutions like the World Bank for backing the redevelopment ambitions.
Naidu envisions Amaravati as a 'self-financing' greenfield city, equipped with sustainable features such as green energy hubs and electric vehicle charging stations. Banks and the central government have committed substantial funding, and lessons from global models will guide its development, aiming to showcase modern best practices.
