Taiwan's President, Lai Ching-te, has asserted that China does not have the right to represent Taiwan in the global arena. However, the island is open to cooperation with Beijing on pressing global concerns, such as climate change, Lai stated on Thursday.
During his national day address, Lai reiterated Taiwan's steadfast resolve to protect its sovereignty. Despite geopolitical tensions, Taiwan remains committed to engaging in dignified and fair dialogue with China, seeking to establish a cooperative relationship without compromising its autonomy.
