Hurricane Kirk has left a trail of destruction across western Europe as it transitioned into a raging storm. Trees were uprooted in Spain and Portugal while floods inundated parts of France.
Meteo France has issued stark warnings as the storm brought gusts of up to 93 mph in mountainous regions, with heavy rainfall looming over areas like southern Picardie and Paris, posing severe flood risks. France's energy minister, Agnès Pannier-Runacher, highlighted the urgent need for caution as rivers threatened to overflow.
The storm's impact was felt early Wednesday when up to 400,000 residents in northern Portugal lost electricity. Simultaneously, Hurricane Milton advanced towards Florida with devastating winds, prompting mass evacuations on the Gulf Coast.
