Hurricane Helene has intensified into a category 2 hurricane and additional strengthening is expected before landfall in Florida, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Thursday.

Hurricane Helene is located about 365 miles (585 km) south of Apalachicola, Florida, with maximum sustained winds of 100 mph (155 kmh), the Miami-based forecaster said.
