Delhi's Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) have expressed their frustration over being excluded from the newly established special task force under the city's Winter Action Plan. This plan, announced by Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday, aims to address the annual surge in air pollution.
The Winter Action Plan includes various strategies such as the use of drones for real-time monitoring, an anti-dust campaign, and the establishment of a 'green war room.' However, the RWAs argue that their grassroots involvement is essential for the plan's success. Rajiv Kakria, an RWA member, said, 'We work directly on the ground and understand the pollution problems faced by residents.'
The RWAs believe their firsthand knowledge and local influence can offer critical insights and faster response times, enhancing the plan's effectiveness. 'We want to be part of the solution,' said BS Vohra, another RWA representative. Despite welcoming various initiatives in the plan, the RWAs maintain that their inclusion would significantly bolster its overall impact.
