A mild earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale struck the Baitadi district in western Nepal Sunday afternoon, according to the National Earthquake Monitoring Centre.

The quake was recorded at 2:09 pm with its epicentre located at Shivalinga. There were no immediate reports of damage.

Another recent earthquake, with its epicentre around Majhigaon in Bajhang district, also hit western Nepal on September 18. The region has seen frequent tremors of late.
