A tragic incident occurred early Sunday in the southern Italian province of Naples, where a two-story building collapsed, leading to the death of two young siblings, according to local firefighters.
The collapse, likely triggered by a gas explosion, left the mother of the children and an older woman trapped under the rubble. Rescuers in the town of Saviano managed to recover the bodies of a 6-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl.
Despite the devastation, the children's father and newborn brother were found alive. The town's mayor, Vincenzo Simonelli, was on-site, describing the collapsed building as "crumpled up on itself" and highlighting the severity of the situation.
