The Central Public Works Department (CPWD) has initiated a bid process to map the drainage system around the old Parliament building. This strategic move aims to upgrade the drainage infrastructure within the complex.
The decision follows recent waterlogging in the Parliament complex after heavy rainfall, an issue highlighted by opposition leaders on social media.
According to the tender document, the project will involve a topographical survey, a ground penetration radar (GPR) survey, a vertical electrical resistivity test, and a robotic survey both inside and outside Samvidhan Sadan.
The CPWD, a key construction agency under the Central government, has set the last date for submitting technical and financial bids as September 23, with the project expected to cost around Rs 16.83 lakh.
The topographical survey will encompass boundaries, buildings, exposed services, roads, and other features. The GPR survey will detect and map the depth and details of all existing underground utilities, including buried sewer, storm water drainage, and water supply lines.
