India's ambition to become a developed nation by 2047, dubbed Viksit Bharat@2047, is being pursued amid unprecedented climate challenges and technological shifts. BVR Subrahmanyam, CEO of NITI Aayog, highlighted these issues at Connect Karo 2024.
In a plenary session titled 'Pathways to Low Carbon Equitable Development in India', Subrahmanyam acknowledged the multi-faceted challenge of balancing growth with sustainability. He noted India's strong global performance in climate commitments as a model for other nations. Significant investments in energy, transportation, and urban infrastructure are set to drive this transformation.
Connect Karo 2024, hosted at the India Habitat Centre, brought together over 150 thought leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss themes such as clean energy transitions, climate finance, and urban development. Key initiatives like the Eco-City Region Forum and a MoU for financing climate adaptation projects were also launched.
