A recent survey aimed at gauging awareness of clean energy sources found that about 50% of Gen Z respondents prefer solar solutions, closely followed by Millennials at 46%. The survey, which included 4,318 respondents across five metros and eight non-metros, was conducted between February and March 2024.
Gen Z, aged 18-22, along with Millennials, Gen X, and baby boomers, revealed varied insights. Preeti Bajaj, MD and CEO of Luminous Power Technologies, stated, 'The Solar spectrum of New India provided a clear picture of changing consumer perceptions and opportunities in the solar energy sector.'
Though awareness of alternatives is growing, 97% of respondents lack a solar rooftop system at home. Accessibility issues were highlighted, with 28% of baby boomers finding solar solutions inaccessible, while Millennials reported the least difficulty. The shortage of specialized skills and labor remains a significant hurdle for wider solar adoption.
