Bihar's rural infrastructure is set for a significant upgrade as the state government plans to construct around 1,000 small bridges to replace those that have recently collapsed. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday.
Cabinet approval was given for the 'Mukhyamantri Gramin Setu Nirman Yojana' (MGSNY), which includes the prioritization of small bridge construction in rural areas. The Rural Works Department (RWD) and Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited have been tasked with executing these bridge projects.
In addition to the bridge initiative, the cabinet sanctioned amendments to the Mukhya Mantri Gramin Sadak Unnayan Yojana, focusing on the connectivity and repair of rural roads. Further, the cabinet approved the development of three five-star hotels and shopping malls in Patna under a public-private partnership (PPP). The Bihar Tourism and Market Policy-2024 was also passed to bolster tourism projects.
