The ruling AAP and the opposition BJP clashed dramatically on Tuesday over the PWD's decision to issue demolition notices to the inhabitants of the Madrasi Camp slum cluster in southeast Delhi. The notices were given to clear the way for a new flyover construction.

Taking swift action, the Delhi High Court instructed the authorities to halt any eviction processes for the time being. This ruling provided a temporary relief to the affected residents facing the threat of eviction. The ongoing legal battle highlights the political tensions surrounding this issue.

Delhi PWD Minister Atishi condemned the demolition as illegal, emphasizing the rights of residents to undergo proper rehabilitation before any removal. She indicated that the land belongs to the Railways, not the PWD. AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia, have pledged to fight against what they term as 'dictatorial' policies, while the BJP has accused the Delhi government of failing to protect the residents adequately.
