Typhoon Yagi's Aftermath: Vietnam's Struggle with Devastation

Typhoon Yagi ravaged northern Vietnam, resulting in at least 14 deaths and 176 injuries. The powerful storm left over 3 million people without electricity, damaged extensive agricultural lands, and caused significant flight disruptions. As the typhoon weakened, concerns grew over continued heavy rainfall and potential floods, flash floods, and landslides.

At least 14 people have died and 176 others were injured after Typhoon Yagi battered northern Vietnam, state media reported Sunday, while officials cautioned about heavy downpours despite the storm's diminishing force.

Described as one of the most severe typhoons to hit the area in the last decade, Yagi left more than 3 million people without electricity and damaged over 116,192 hectares of agricultural land, primarily used for rice and fruit cultivation.

The typhoon also prompted the cancellation of hundreds of flights due to the closure of four airports. Making landfall in Quang Ninh and Haiphong provinces with wind speeds of up to 149 km/h on Saturday afternoon, the storm raged for 15 hours before weakening into a tropical depression early Sunday morning.
