India and Bhutan on Friday expressed their commitment to further advancing joint efforts in the space sector, aiming to utilize space science and technology for societal benefits.
During the inaugural meeting of the Bhutan-India Joint Working Group, both nations reviewed ongoing bilateral space collaborations and outlined future initiatives under the Joint Plan of Action (JPoA) on Space Cooperation, as stated in a joint press release.
The JPoA, signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to Bhutan in March 2024, provides a detailed roadmap for future space collaborations. In line with the agreement, ISRO allocated an additional 16 MHz bandwidth to Bhutan on the South Asia Satellite. The collaboration also includes the development of the 'INDIA-BHUTAN SAT' satellite and capacity-building programs for Bhutanese engineers.
