Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday inaugurated the first phase of Karnataka's ambitious Rs 23,251.66 crore 'Yettinahole Integrated Drinking Water Project' at Hebbanahalli in Sakleshapur taluk.

Officials reported the project's completion target as March 31, 2027. Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who also holds the Water Resources Ministry, described it as a historic milestone for Karnataka.

The project, estimated to benefit nearly 6,657 villages, 27 taluks, and 56 assembly segments, will lift 24.01 TMC of water during monsoons from various catchment areas to remedy acute water shortages in drought-prone regions such as Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts.
