An inter-ministerial team from the Central government commenced their assessment of flood-affected districts in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. Leading the team was Sanjeev Kumar Jindal, who visited Vijayawada, one of the most impacted areas, to evaluate the extent of the damage, according to an official press release.

During their visit, the team inspected the State Emergency Operations Centre at the APSDMA office in Tadepalli, where officials briefed them on the severe rains and subsequent flooding.

The team also toured the Prakasam Barrage, recently damaged by boats during the floods. Meanwhile, Vijayawada's civic personnel are focused on sanitation and restoring water supply, though Municipal Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra warns against consuming the tap water due to silting issues. A public awareness campaign is planned to address this.

Additionally, drinking water is being distributed through approximately 200 tankers. The Commissioner noted that most floodwaters had receded, allowing for improved accessibility and planned distribution of civil supplies from Friday. Efforts were bolstered by 6,000 workers from eight districts. In Gannavaram, Excise Minister K Ravindra examined flood-hit areas via boats and tractors.
