Relief Operations Intensify in Flood-hit Vijayawada

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and local officials commenced aerial food and water distribution in flood-stricken Vijayawada on Tuesday.
Deployed helicopters and drones disseminate essentials such as biscuits, fruits, milk, and medicines, according to an official press release.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) stated that Ministers, IAS, and IPS officers are leading relief efforts in the submerged commercial city.
Basic needs are being met for 43,417 displaced individuals relocated to rehabilitation centers. The release also mentioned the operation of 197 medical camps and the involvement of 48 NDRF and SDRF teams.
Triggered by record rains due to a Bay of Bengal depression, Vijayawada experienced severe and unprecedented flooding.
