Tropical Storm Yagi unleashed severe landslides and heavy rains across northern Philippines, leading to the deaths of at least 14 people. The storm struck Casiguran town in Aurora with winds up to 85 kph, disrupting daily life and causing significant concern among residents and authorities.
Officials reported casualties mostly due to landslides and drowning. A landslide in Antipolo city claimed three lives, including a pregnant woman. Several others perished in Cebu city, Northern Samar, and Naga city due to related incidents throughout the day.
The storm's impact led to the suspension of classes and government operations in metropolitan Manila. Emergency services worked tirelessly as the Marikina River threatened to overflow and flood warning systems were activated. Sea travel disruptions and evacuations were also reported in Cavite and Northern Samar.
